Governance

ARCES Governance Structure

The governance structure of the Alliance for Research in Circular Economy & Sustainability (ARCES) is designed to promote effective decision-making, accountability, and transparency. Here is a proposed structure:

❖ General Meeting

Comprised of all ARCES members, the Annual General Meeting is the utmost decision-making body. It meets annually to discuss and decide on major policy issues, strategic directions, and amendments to the society's rules and regulations. Each member has one vote in Annual General Meeting.

❖ Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is elected by the General Assembly and serves as the executive body of ARCES. It's responsible for overseeing the implementation of the society's strategy and policies, managing its finances, and ensuring its overall functioning. The Board consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and other directors, each serving a term of two years.

❖ Executive Committee

The Executive Committee, composed of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the society. The committee implements the decisions of the Board and manages the society's operations and staff.

❖ Research Committee

The Research Committee would be responsible for guiding and overseeing the society's research activities. This includes setting research priorities, reviewing and approving research proposals, and ensuring the quality and ethical standards of the society's research.

❖ Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee ensures that all activities of ARCES adhere to ethical standards. It reviews the ethical aspects of research proposals, handles complaints about ethical misconduct, and updates society's ethical guidelines as needed.

❖ Finance Committee

Chaired by the Treasurer, the Finance Committee oversees the society's financial management. It prepares the annual budget, monitors expenditures, and ensures proper financial reporting and controls.

❖ Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for managing the society's membership, including processing membership applications, maintaining the membership database, and engaging with members.

❖ Advisory Board

The Advisory Board comprises external experts and stakeholders who provide strategic advice and guidance to the Board of Directors. While they don't have decision-making powers, their expertise and perspectives are valuable for society's strategic planning and decision-making.
